It's More Than Just a Hashtag
Hey, it's Sydney here. I'm really excited to share this podcast with all of you - my thoughts, ideas, and to keep it real and vulnerable. Each week I'll get to speak to some truly wonderful people, and it's my hope that their stories and messages resonate - and above all else - remind us all that we're not alone.
I've been thinking about starting this podcast for a long time now, and it's probably no accident that I wrote out the concept on September 18th - one year to the date I had appendicitis - an event in my life that served as a wake up call and a catalyst. After months and months of not listening to my body, I had to rest, reflect, and slow down. Slowing down didn't happen right away (shoutout to resistance) - but over the last year I've spent more time getting to know myself, getting real with myself, and beginning to understand and love who I am and who I want to be.
The name of the podcast, "Seek The Joy" was inspired by a bracelet I made in 2014. It's a simple engraved bracelet (which you can see on my instagram feed here) - and the bracelet was inspired by a conversation I had with a friend. He said, very honestly, that I needed more joy in my life. My first response was (literally) "um, ok." The truth was, I didn't have joy in my life, I didn't even know where to begin to start seeking joy in my life. I decided I needed a permanent reminder of the fact that I needed to seek joy in my life and really feel it. I ordered the bracelet and the rest is history.
Fast forward to now - I've started a podcast. As a kid who grew up with a pretty strong lisp, this isn't something I thought I'd ever do. But I'm doing it, and I'm excited to share its message with all of you.
My hope, my dream for this podcast, and what I hope it will evolve into, is a discussion and a conversation about who we really are, and what we came here to do. Through authentic conversations and building up our self-love muscles, on this podcast we'll show up for us - and really seek our joy.
Seek Joy, take risks, follow your passion, and have some fun along the way!
I hope you'll join me ✨
