Happy #SeekTheJoy Tuesday!

On the podcast today is Dana-Maxx Pomerantz, founder and creator behind Instagram's global platform @TheBeHappyProject.

The Be Happy Project is a positive platform that inspires inner happiness, self-love & personal growth.

Dana-Maxx never would have started The Be Happy Project if she didn’t hit her rock bottom, and have an opportunity to rediscover herself and her joy.

In this week’s episode Dana-Maxx and I chat about the inspiration behind The Be Happy Project, the key to finding inner happiness, and doing the self-work to get to the self-like. We chat about how through healing and resilience we can begin to define ourselves, our self-worth, and living life on our terms. Plus, Dana-Maxx shares the power of a Plan B and dreaming another dream (and why you should go for it!), how to become comfortable sharing your truth and your story, and why it’s important to honor your boundaries.

I’m so excited to share this week’s new episode with Dana-Maxx, and I can’t wait to hear what you think! Make sure to join the conversation on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

I’ve learned through all of this that we can’t let anyone or anything define us, we have to learn to define ourselves. I think that we have to, for our mental health and peace of mind, to find joy so that we can live in a state of peace, contentment, and happiness.

I never would have started The Be Happy Project if I didn’t go through the failure of my dream. Life has a way of working out, and leading us in the direction that might be different from what we thought we’d go in, but the direction that is good for us.
— Dana-Maxx Pomerantz

Dana-Maxx Pomerantz is a former fashion designer turned founder of The Be Happy Project. After having a successful career as an NYC fashion designer and business owner, she suddenly had to close her business. The failure of her dream was unexpected, but that didn’t stop Dana-Maxx from chasing after a new dream.

Enter her Plan B, The Be Happy Project.

Through rebuilding her life, getting to her know herself in a new and profound way, Dana-Maxx was able to rise up through healing and resilience. You’ll hear it in this week’s new episode, she redefined success and failure, through releasing shame and guilt, and reclaiming her life. That choice and shift in perspective has made all of the difference.

My happiness was always tied to my success. If I was doing well I was beaming and so excited. If someone rejected me, or I missed an opportunity, or even when the business closed I was suffering inside. I started The Be Happy Project to teach myself that you have to learn how to be happy in the moment, and it can’t be tied to anyone or anything.

How do you define happiness?

For Dana-Maxx, happiness is defined as living in the present moment, and collecting moments of joy that creates lifelong and long-term happiness.

She started The Be Happy Project around the time she was closing her fashion business. She learned through her failures and missteps that happiness can’t be attached to tangible things and people that can easily come and go. Instead, moments of joy collectively is what inspires true inner happiness and contentment. If you can find joy in the little moments in life, it all adds up.

Dana-Maxx’s perspective on self-love is going to inspire you and remind you that the first step in any self-love journey is acceptance. At 7-years old, Dana-Maxx was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and for many years she allowed the disease to define her. Over time, she had to learn to define herself and her worth, on her terms. As Dana-Maxx shares in this week’s new episode, once you define yourself, you’re able to live in a sate of peace, contentment and happiness.
