Happy #SeekTheJoy Tuesday!

On the podcast this week is Lizzie Brown, the CEO of Yoga Wake Up, an app that replaces your usual alarm with easy, audio-guided yoga or meditation.

Yoga Wake Up is made to be accessible to all. Their easy audio-guided yoga is beginner friendly and can be done anytime throughout the day or night.

In this week’s new episode Lizzie and I chat about her entrepreneurial journey, building resilience in the face of hearing “no”, and the role of self-care and mindfulness in helping to prevent burn out. Lizzie shares the inspiration behind Yoga Wake Up, cultivating a culture of inclusivity, acceptance, and shifting the yoga culture, and why their teachers are at the center of the app. Plus, Lizzie shares the role of yoga in her healing and spiritual journey, the impact of Yoga Wake Up, the biggest risk she’s taken, her go-to mantra (it’s so good!), her biggest dream, and so much more!

Yoga Wake Up meets you where you are, and I really enjoyed connecting with Lizzie and I can’t wait to hear what you think! Make sure to join the conversation on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

We are celebrating THREE YEARS of Seek The Joy Podcast on October 3rd! We’re celebrating this year on Zoom and I’d love for you to join! Save the date for Saturday October 3rd at 2pm PT and RSVP here!

It’s been a long road these last five years, and of course these last several months, but it’s been a gift. It’s just been a blessing, because [Yoga Wake Up] is something that’s helping so many people, and our mission is so clear especially now. It’s also something that has supported us, and we’re able to come to work every day and work on something that is growing and [giving back].

It’s acknowledging that we all need a little bit of self-care every day and it doesn’t have to be something you advertise on social media, or a grand event, or an hour long bath with the rights oils and the right music on. It can just be something simple that you do throughout the day just to continue to maintain your own levels of calm.
— Lizzie Brown

Lizzie began her career in lifestyle PR representing surf and sportswear brands fourteen years ago. In 2007, at 23 years old, she opened her first PR agency, Dell et Ruhs. In that time she is credited with launching Lorna Jane in the US, as well as Carbon38 and NUX activewear.

In 2014, Lizzie opened shop with her husband and launched Kamala Collective, an agency that specialized in app development, PR and marketing for fitness and wellness brands, through which she launched Fabletics, Further Food and LEKfit, among others.

In 2017, with her husband, Lizzie co-founded the first ever “yoga alarm clock” — the Yoga Wake Up app, which Apple subsequently featured in its “New Apps We Love”. Yoga Wake Up replaces your usual alarm with easy, audio-guided yoga and meditation that you can do at home, in the bedroom or on the go!

My biggest dream is to continue and to really experience the impact of what we’re building.

Together with her husband Joaquín, it’s their lifelong dream to encourage happiness and positivity in others, and they hope that Yoga Wake Up brings joy to your life.

They weren’t always morning people. But when Joaquín came up with the idea to wake up with gentle yoga, gradually they started snoozing less and smiling more, all before 8 a.m. Lizzie and Joaquín trust this will happen for you too as you begin to feel the positive effects of waking up with yoga.

Yoga Wake Up meets you where you are in life! They know you're busy and they know that life comes at you fast. That's why they offer hundreds of unique sessions, all 20 minutes or less, for morning, anytime and bedtime - so that you can always find the time for yourself.

Lizzie believes that together we can create a world of peace and happiness through regular yoga and meditation, self-reflection, kindness and compassion for others - and they’re bringing that intention to the world through Yoga Wake Up.

To connect with Lizzie and learn more about Yoga Wake Up visit their website www.yogawakeup.com and on Instagram @yogawakeup Facebook @yogawakeupapp and Twitter @yogawakeup.
