Andrea Hipps, LBSW is a CDC® Certified Divorce Coach and CDC® Certified Divorce Transition and Recovery Coach who helps moms all along the divorce continuum resolve their divorce debris and create beautiful two-address families for their kids. Her practice helps divorcing moms prevent drama on the front end, rework the story they have now, and create a life they can feel at home in.

As a leading contributor to our nation’s divorce recovery conversation, she's been featured on various television shows and podcasts discussing how we can do divorce better for the sake of ourselves and our families.

I’m so excited for you to connect with Andrea, check out her work, and follow along as she continues to help divorcing women build a new family structure that is not at the mercy of their former spouse, learn how to manage their wild emotions and triggers during and after the process, and build a two-address family (not a broken one) that they can feel at home in.

I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

My name is Andrea Hipps and I am a CDC® Certified Divorce Coach who helps moms all along the divorce continuum resolve their divorce debris and create beautiful two-address families for their kids.  I've been working on my book, The Best Worst Time of Your Life: Four Practices to Get You Through the Pain of Divorce which is available on preorder here and launches April 30, 2021.

How did you get started?

My book initially started as a way to make sense of my own personal divorce journey which started over a decade ago.  As it took shape, it also became a book I wrote for others.  There are a lot of books about the logistics of divorce, but very few that really talk about what to do with the breaking apart of your heart and life with an aim to rebuild something that isn’t “against” your former partner.

What inspired the work that you're doing?

I became inspired to write this book when I realized there weren’t enough divorced family stories where the story ended well.  Divorce means the end of the marriage, but when children are involved, it doesn’t mean the end of the relationship.  Divorcing moms often feel they are at the mercy of their former spouse when it comes to building a new family structure.  In my book I help them see how to take back their own power, develop that solid family structure independent of their former spouse’s participation, and confidently move forward with their children at the forefront.

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

My biggest passion is for living my life in a way that offers tremendous support to my girls, creates a beautiful post-divorce family, enjoys a meaningful marriage, creates lasting friendships, experiences and shares deep spiritual growth, and brings light and healing to those facing divorce. I’m certainly headed in that direction, but growing into it better as I go!

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

I feel most alive when I’m leading with my best self, connecting with and expanding the strong force of love in our world, and engaging in relationships that lead to growth and possibility.

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

Movement and reflection are my go-to practices to move into a rooted and centered space within myself.

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

She would be shocked!  Like many people, divorce was not a part of my family narrative, and I didn’t see myself as a future divorcee or divorce coach.  After her shock wore off, my younger self would probably celebrate the path I took through divorce.  She would be proud that I stayed classy, owned my part, fought for gratitude, and said yes to a life I didn’t expect (all four practices in my upcoming book!).

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

Do the work.  Be a creator, not a victim.

What is your biggest dream?

I would love to spend winters in Arizona and summers in Michigan loving on my family, supporting and inspiring those going through divorce, and growing in every way.
