I’m so excited for you to connect with Christian, check out his work and new book, and follow along as he continues to help others reclaim their power and release the hero inside.

I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

I’m an award-winning author, spiritual teacher, personal transformation coach and TEDx speaker. My latest book, Awakening the Soul of Power, was described by music icon Gloria Estefan as “a balm for the soul of anyone searching for truth and answers to life’s difficult questions.” On a personal level, the book's message help readers transform their relationship to power so that they can stop selling out on their personal power and free themselves from self-sabotaging behaviors. It helps them heal toxic relationship patterns and negotiate power struggles more effectively. On a macro scale, issues of power and the abuse of power are up for all of us to look at—and choose: What kind of leadership do we want? While the book has a particular message about women's empowerment, it includes a chapter on what it means to be a man in the 21st century.

In addition to finishing the book, this past year, like many other people, I had to pivot and create virtual programming. For years I’ve known that was something I needed to do if I was going to scale my work and reach more people. COVID forced my hand. I’ve recently launched a year-long, results-oriented virtual program, Adventures in Transformation.

How did you get started?

As a personal transformation coach and breathwork practitioner for 30 years, I have been offering retreats and workshops to support people to have a sense of personal empowerment, lives filled with meaning and purpose, and the kind of relationships they long for. Though I always had a sense of mission and a desire to make a difference in the world, my journey took a different direction after my very first breathwork session. I’d been on a track to get a PhD in Psychology. That one session changed my life and I knew I’d never be the same. It was so powerful and healing that I jumped tracks and never went for the PhD.

What inspired the work that you're doing?

Most of us have an ambivalent relationship to power: we want it but are afraid of it. The books outlines how we can step into our power in a way that is congruent with who we are. Though the book is for everyone, part of what inspired it is my conviction that the empowerment of women is the single most important thing that needs to happen in our world. When women are in 50% off power in the world, we’ll have a very different relationship to all the challenges we face as a species: war, poverty, hunger, wealth distribution, social justice, how we treat the environment—all of it. How do we step into power in a different way that is not about hierarchy, power over, force, fear, domination, that doesn’t require that we step on anyone, push them down, in order for us to feel powerful?

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

My biggest passion is fulfilling my purpose and potential, going for personal excellence, and helping others to do the same. One of my superpowers is cutting through the BS and evoking the best and highest in people, helping them get free from their self-imposed prison of fear, limitation, and playing small.

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

I feel most alive when I am in the zone doing my work and can see people heal and transform in front of my eyes. Besides that, I feel most centered and connected in nature … or while love-making.

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

Breathing practices help keep me present, centered, connected and in my body. Meditation helps quiet my mind and allows me the space for self-observation, which helps to bring choice into the equation when the rubber meets the road, rather than reacting and then regretting something I said or did. Mini yoga sessions help keep my body in relative elasticity, and my walks help me connect with nature and re-energize. And sometimes, Netflix therapy is what does the trick!

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

Had I only known then what I know now! He’d be proud and feel hopeful.

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

Just Breathe!

What is your biggest dream?

To reach millions of people with my message of empowerment to help them free themselves from fear, self-doubt and feelings of unworthiness, and to have lives filled with meaning and purpose, making a difference in the world. It’s all hands on deck time, so anyone who has had the slightest suspicion that they have work to do as teachers, healers or activists for change, this is it!
