Stephanie Roman is a weight-neutral Food & Body Acceptance Coach. She offers her clients a weight-neutral approach to health and wellness using the principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size. Stephanie brings to her coaching method both her personal experience with dieting and body shame as well as a compassionate, judgment-free space, oodles of support and laser-sharp intuition. From a young age Stephanie was already well acquainted with her critical self-talk about her body, extreme dieting and inevitable weight cycling. By the time she was 12, she decided that her body needed to be different, smaller. The “perfect” body never looked back at her in the mirror, and she spent decades weighing, counting, measuring and recording what she ate. She spent countless hours researching food and fitness tips, buying books and combing through blogs and Instagram posts of people who seemed to have mastered what she couldn’t. Being in a smaller body never led her to body acceptance or the freedom that she hoped it would, and it was clear that things had to change.
Stephanie found herself further away than ever from the acceptance, peace and happiness that she had been seeking for so long, and she chose to embark on a journey to reclaim her worth and find acceptance from the inside. She found a health coach to help guide her, and she learned about Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size. The information she gained was revolutionary, and it changed everything. Today, Stephanie has learned how to tune into her body’s innate wisdom, appreciate her body for the miracle that it is, and she’s using her experiences and wisdom to help others do the same. I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.
I'm Stephanie Roman, weight-neutral Food + Body Image Coach. I help women overcome crippling anxiety about food + body so they can pursue what really matters to them and live their fullest lives. I'm also a speaker in the NYC area and teach workshops on improving body image.
How did you get started?
It all started with me seeking out a coach myself to help me with my relationship with food and body. What my coach opened my eyes to was revolutionary and I knew I had to be a part of sharing it with others.
What inspired the work that you're doing?
My mother. My friends. The wonderful women I know that have experienced extreme body shame and watching what that does to a person. Learning through my own journey that it IS possible to see the other side of a life preoccupied by food choices and body image woes.
What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?
I do! I'm passionate about being my authentic self and creating space for others to do the same.
What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?
When I can help another person feel seen and heard. When someone says that I've helped them in some way. Cerebral soul connections with others.
How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?
My spirituality and relationship with God is extremely important to me and guides my choices.
What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?
She would be insanely shocked and in disbelief. But I also think she would be inspired.
Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?
Not necessarily an affirmation, but something I ask myself a lot is, "Does this thought/action/habit/practice align with MY own values?"
What is your biggest dream?
To gaze upon every beautiful thing in this world and live forever.
