Passion or Perfectionism?

Passion or Perfectionism?

I heard something really profound and fascinating last week that resonated with me that I feel compared to share. It went something like this: your work ethic, strive for perfectionism, your desire to do well and do right - it can make you great, but it can also be what breaks you. Don’t let it be what breaks you.

Mic. Drop.

This so resonated with me because there’s truly such a fine line between doing our best, being our best and having our work and output - no matter what it is - match who you are and the person that you are. BUT at the same time, it can also be what breaks you, depletes you, what burns you out and staves you of your joy.

So many of us have this work ethic and desire to reach a level of “perfectionism” that is disguised, or masked, as our passion.

BUT there’s a difference.

When we’re running on passion, purpose and joy - it excites us and motivates us in a way that propels us forward. Perfectionism, on the other hand, drains you, starves you and exhausts you.

So I have a challenge for you this week - to identify the difference between passion and perfectionism in your life, and to consciously choose to not allow that desire for perfectionism to deplete you, and drain you of your joy.

You’re going to hear a MAJOR lightbulb moment in this week’s new episode too. Identifying for ourselves the difference between passion and perfectionism also means identifying for yourself if you’re operating from a space of confidence and self-worth, and choosing to stand in your worth, or operating from a space of fear, lack, and doubt.

When you consciously choose to live and operate from a space of knowing who you are, believing and trusting and seeing your value, of seeing your worth, of knowing without a doubt that who you are and how you show up is enough, you’re going, by default, to operate from a space of passion rather than a space of perfectionism.

Where are there spaces in your life that you are choosing to allow yourself to operate from fear, rather than trust? And when you’re operating from fear do you find that you’re falling back on passion or perfectionism?

I can’t wait to hear what you think about this one - it’s time we live from passion, rather than perfectionism.

xx
